This post is for out of character discussion of this round of Neel Krishnaswami's The Court of the Empress.

This is the peanut gallery, so pass the peanuts and we'll see what the Empress and her court have to do and say...

I'm considering suggesting that every courtier should reply to each service, and then may reply as much as they feel is warranted to the other replies.

This would force quiet players to have to participate.

If your service doesn't get more action soon, it'll be closed to move us along...

Not at all, this is an exercise. I think that's a combination of the speed of play and the real lack of interaction with the Empress.

I sorta like the courtiers not knowing what will or won't please the Empress, given that she kills between n and n-1 of them each round.

However, if it's too difficult, then we can adjust it. I don't want it to overbalance so that no one will speak without being addressed by the Empress. Two other things: related to this point: 1: It's a positive acceptance framework, so if you say something, the rest of us will likely go with it. 2: The Empress is supposed to work on her gut reaction, so letting you all crank a bit helps me build one, but it doesn't let you see it. Your reaction and adjustment would be over time (and as Neel sees it, over multiple rounds). That may be a problem in a PBLJ game, since we've spent a few days on what would be a few moments of conversation in F2F.
