Kinky Friedman's old campaign headquarters from his 2006 run-for-governor-and-lose campaign (he was trying to lose, right? He certainly wasn't trying to win...) was down the street from my office. It's been for rent since before I interviewed here.

Gone.

As of this morning, it's Hillary Clinton's campaign HQ.

Our Crappy Local Morning Drive DJs (award-winning or something, I'm sure. whatever) were having a big "Obama or Clinton"? debate. They're mostly pro-Obama. Winning line (paraphrased): For me, in addition to all the reasons I want him to win, I'll get to imagine how pissed my dad would've been that I was voting for the black guy.

Ah, redneck rebel politics.

December! We've been here almost 3 months, and we're not missing winter weather at all.

Its a different experience to be in a state/political situation where the Presidential caucus/primary actually matters, isn't it?

I saw my first presidential campaign ad in more than a decade last night, for Hillary, who's apparently making a push to win Texas, because it actually matters for once.

My head is still spinning from the concept that anyone will give a shit who I vote for in March. :)

I *like* getting to have a say! (Although I will miss my quadrennial opportunity to vote my conscience without concern as to whether my candidate will be easily crushed by the thugs who run the Republicans' campaigns.)

As for the reasons of choosing one over the other, for all that I've listened to the two, trying to find nay real significance between their stances, I haven't found any that leans me one way or the other. On the one issue I see as a good litmus test of philosophy and moral courage, I'd have a much easier time choosing if Obama had been in Congress in 2002 and actually voted against giving Congress's Constitutional authority to Bush.

(And Kinky sure did deflate waaaaaaaay early in the race. I wasn't for him but he was entertaining and I was looking forward to a chaotic, unpredictable election.)
