Moving On...
Oct. 25th, 2006 07:05 pmI don't know what petition I signed or issue I mailed Congress about, but MoveOn.org has me on their list. I'm good with that, they're in favor of a lot of things I'm in favor of. This week has been particularly interesting.
So far, I've got email from Steven King, Al Gore, and Barack Obama encouraging me to get involved. One per day. I'm betting they hit this list every 24 hours until election day.
The other idea they have is sponsoring parties where people bring their cell phones and call Democratic voters who don't always vote and encourage them to vote this time. That's the fascinating one. First of all, they say this has been shown to be effective. Secondly, it's pretty much grass-roots activism. They're doing this nationwide. There are parties in Ringoes, NJ and in The Woodlands, TX and lots of other places.
It's a fascinating strategy, and one I may need to participate in. They're well organized, know what motivates people, and have a good model to get lots of people to help a little. Check out their homepage if you're interested in the phone-party stuff in your area.
