As [livejournal.com profile] immlass mentioned, I did indeed get laid off today (as did my Uberboss, the CTO and a couple dozen more of us). Considering that my big advantage was that I was working on an infrastructure improvement project and they killed all of those, it's not really a surprise.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words over there.

I am actively looking for work and I'm hoping to find something better.

Take care, be well, and hopefully the worm will turn (before it gets eaten by the early bird)

*Hug*

May you channel your inner Random for luck in the job search! (but perhaps not so far that you end up pantsless behind a drum kit....)

Glad I could be of service, kid. Tell your therapist he can send the gift-basket to my home address.... ;)

This morning I was worried they'd do something crazy in HP land and I'd need to be worrying about you.

I could not have said it better myself. Indeed.

And, selfishly, here's hoping you and immlass both find jobs in the NYC area. :)

I also found it bizarre that the day HP announced its plan to eliminate 10% of the workforce, you got hit.

Odd world.

On this end, we are told it will take 6 quarters to complete the reductions, so I don't know how long it will be before I know my status.

The Chronk this morning said that HP was definitely not reducing its R&D arm, which is you, right?

I am late to the party, but obviously I agree with all those assembled. This sucks, good luck, and you seem to be handling this remarkably well, which speaks highly of you, as if you needed outside confirmation of how cool you are.

Sorry to post so late; have been away from the PC for a few days. I sincerely hope you find a fun, meaningful job in no time.

Extra points if it's in a fabulous location. What kind of work do you want to do?

Long-distance luck and hugs headed your way.
