via a lot of people:

I know very little about some of the people on my friends' list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your fic, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes spinach."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal, if you feel like it.

A little thing about me.

One of my hobbies is thanatomicrotheosophy. It's kind of specialized, but it keeps me happy.

I use Tarot readings like Rorschach tests. Not to tell the future, but to give me insights into my conscious and subconscious.

I love zebras. I think it has to do with my maiden name. I seemed to be called "Zebra" by more than a few of my friends - with reason in college, when I dyed my hair blonde, then didn't get to the roots in time. For one of my college groups (SEDS - Students for the Exploration and Development of Space), I had to work when the yearbook picture was taken, so my friends drew a Zebra and sat that with them for the picture. I'm sure no one knew, outside of my group of friends, why a zebra was in a picture for a group dealing with space.

Man, it's hard to think of stuff you people don't know, because I'm such an open book.

I saw ET eight times. Elliot was my first crush.

The first movie I ever saw in a movie theater was
"Metalstorm 3d: The Destruction of Jared-Sin" at age 12. I had to wait until my older brother was old enough to take me to a theater...since my parents were not moviegoers.

My first theater movie was Bambi. My Mom took me.

My first pop record was Melanie's "Brand New Key". I got it for Christmas along with my first stereo when I was in grade school. I also got a Tine the Ballerina doll and the record that went with her. I still remember that damned song.

When I was a child, my mom thought I didn't have a sense of humor. I never joked.

Then suddenly I came out with some random story about the sand and the beech tree. Making my first joke a pun.

This pretty much set the tone for my warped sense of humor at a very early age.

My only two scars are on my left hand. One is in the wed between thumb and forefinger from a glass bowl shattering in my hands, and the second is on my thumb, a small patch burned off when I touched a still hot capillary tube. The fingerprint came back a different pattern from the rest of the thumb.

I have lived for 32 years, and never once defenestrated anyone.
No matter how much they needed it.

I have been a Tom Lehrer fan since I first heard "Silent E" and "-ly." I own a probably rare copy of an interview he gave on MIT's college radio station in 1967 -- back then, its call letters were still WTBS, for Technology Broadcasting Services, instead of WMBR, for Walker Memorial Basement Radio.

I don't know how many years of operating budget were provided by Ted Turner in exchange for their call letters.
