Apprently Bras cause breast cancer [edit: link is NSFW]

Oh, and the site goes on to discuss how God gave women breasts to feed babies and that it is perverse of men to find them sexually arousing.
Who knew?

Who in hell wears a bra 24 hours a day?
That's a joke, right?

I used to before the surgery. It was necessary. :(

I seem to recall that this was brought up a few years ago, although that may have been specifically regarding underwires. I'm sure I'll comment more after I check the site...at home. :)

Mm. I used to wear underwires all the time, and then I changed sizes and they are now torture devices...

"I used to..."
Hurray for modern technology actually improving the lot of humans!

What kind of IDIOT would say that?

I mean come on, isn't it their gawd that GAVE men the sex drive that results in them FINDING breasts attractive?

I would like to offically go on the record as saying... I am a HUGE fan of breasts. Love them in all shapes and sizes. I will even go so far as to say, that I firmly support a womans right to expose her breast as an expression of her personal freedom and independence.

I say we start a movement. The Great Shirt-Off of 2005.
Ladies, fight for your rights! Off with your shirts!

See, I get the whole lactivist view of, "I should be able to breast feed my baby in public without you gawking at my breasts and finding it uncomfortable, because at that moment, those breasts are serving the function of feeding my child." But perverse to EVER find them sexually arousing? That's just sad and pathetic. Dude, breasts are BEEYOOTIFUL! Nothing wrong with that.

I have to admit, that site is the first time where I saw specific stats relating hours of bra wearing to breast cancer, which makes me willing to listen to it a bit more. But, seriously, every time I hear that bras cause breast cancer, I just figure it's another way of saying, "Having breasts causes breast cancer." Who knows, maybe there is some validity, though. But not to that "don't find breasts sexy" thing. That's a crock.

I think the study should take a look at additional factors that lead to women wearing their bras for longer periods of time. Perhaps larger breasted women are more prone to breast cancer. Perhaps the risk of cancer increases with the volume of breast tissue available for cancerous growth.

I'm just saying.

But, but... my pushup bra! I don't have clevage if I don't have my push-up bra, and then barely! Dear god.

Clevage or cancer, clevage or cancer, must think on this one...

Darlin', sexy is as sexy does. I knew you were sexy long before I ever saw you.

That said:

  • The conclusion is not convincingly drawn from the data, or "Why would anyone trust this guy's stats?"

  • The site clearly has an agenda.

  • Wearing a bra 24 hours a day seems like it's probably uncommon behavior.

  • The reference in the subject line is to an abortion protester who tries to scare women by telling them that "there are 34 studies that prove that abortion causes breast cancer".

  • If a particular bra makes you feel sexy, then wear it when you want to feel sexy.

You are the sweetest thing that ever lived.

Even if it were true, the things I do for vanity are not even funny. Of course, the hair dye and makeup have a much higher chance of causing me cancer than my pushup bra.

I think you're more likely to be crushed by a giant blue mosaic ball than to get cancer from a pushup bra...

Whoops! That was ~not~ safe for reading at work. Needless to say, I barely skimmed the article, but I have a feeling there are many holes in the assumptions surrounding his experiment (such as whether the bras fit properly to begin with... perhaps we need government funding for proper bra fit education).

Victoria's Secret will gladly fit you in a proper bra, no government funding required ... so they tell me with every catalog.

Yeah, just did that. Right front and center in the store for measurements, but if it didn't phase the sales girl to wrap her arms around me and draw a crowd, it didn't phase me!
