Central Florida by lunchtime...

This time tomorrow, I'll be in Central Florida on an emergency troubleshooting business trip. I found out about the possibility at around 8AM and it was finalized by 10, including plane tickets. It's actually sorta cheap, apparently because of JetBlue.

To some degree, my attendance there is to show the flag, but it's also to put a pair of our hands and our eyes in the customer's site.

This may be the first business trip I've been on where I was the vendor and not the customer. I wonder if this means I buy them drinks.

The down side is that unless I can get the Alamo to accept Ginger's credit card, we're out the cost of admission to the Indy opening night show. Ah, well.

I consistently hear from my long-time Austin resident friends what great customer service they get from the Alamo. I suspect if you call and explain the situation, they'll find a way to make it work.

Actually, if you have a chance to swing by the S. Lamar location, you can pick up the tickets anytime that they're open. Alternatively, I believe they'll accept a printout of the ticket verification e-mail, if you've got that lying around -- check with them to be sure.

I'll be following you on Saturday, though my destination is NE coast (St. Augustine). I have another relative dying so we're heading to Mom's hometown and visiting the family.

Some people go to Florida for vacations. Some, for work. My trips to Florida in the last 10 years have been solely due to dying relatives. This will be the second anniversary of my father dying. I have to admit that I'd really rather NOT ever go to Florida again.

That said, I have lots of family there, including a great uncle who insists that Mom and I stay in his beach house. I'll have a lovely view and the opportunity to play in at a beach where the water isn't like taking a tepid bath. It won't be all bad. :)
