"You say your God is the One True God,
but my One God is the One True God,
You say your God is the One True God,
but my One God's the One..."
--Austin Lounge Lizards
Operation Save America attempted to disrupt the United States Senate this morning because they can't stand the idea that the Senate might get an opening prayer from a Hindu.

To say that his religious principles are obnoxious or that his sect is small, is to lift the evil at once and exhibit in its naked deformity the doctrine that religious truth is to be tested by numbers or that the major sects have a right to govern the minor.--Founding Father James Madison on the problem with congressional chaplains

Ante Pavkovic, Kathy Pavkovic, and Kristen Sugar were all arrested in the chambers of the United States Senate as that chamber was violated by a false Hindu god. The Senate was opened with a Hindu prayer placing the false god of Hinduism on a level playing field with the One True God, Jesus Christ. This would never have been allowed by our Founding Fathers.--Operation Save America Director Flip Benham on the Founding Fathers

Emphasis mine. Madison was of course speaking of those obnoxious principles behind roman catholocism and quakerism, but the principle is the same. So, near as I can tell, Flip thinks Madison wasn't a Founding Father and Madison would have thought that Flip was Evil. Madison is smart.

Oh, they're just jealous. Christ came back once, but Hindus come back again and again and again. So often, it's like a party trick.

I have to say, watching the video of the event made me very, very sad. To watch a calm, peaceful person be treated so horribly simply because he raised his voice in prayer - as he was INVITED to do. I also am having a VERY hard time wrapping my head around the concept of a "Christian rights group". Yeah. 'Cause in this country they are such a persecuted minority. :P

Grrr.

I give props to Rajan for even being able to continue after being so foully treated by the protestors.

Unfortunately, being arrested is probably a badge of honor to the protestors, and just adds to their self delusion as a persecuted minority.

Flip Benham. I remember when that dickweed used to bum-rush women's clinics.

Yep, that's the guy. Dallas' finest.

I first heard of him in 1992, during the republican convention to anoint Bush I. I was defending clinics and he was assaulting them.

He's pretty good at getting his followers arrested.
