Who am I?

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want, either good or bad. I promise not to come after you with a spatula, either way.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

So many, but you laughing this morning when we were talking before you left, because really, the whole goddamn thing has just descended into the realms of farce. And it was wonderful that we could step back from the stupid angsting about it and laugh, still.

Hazy memories of The Red Lion, Munchies and Ceili's Muse.
Oh! And Blarneyfest!

Two for you! Last year at the Ren Faire, meeting you for the second time and wondering if we'd be able to find you guys when you arrived. And Kevin pointing out that of course we would and then I looked up and I realized that yup, I could certainly pick you out from the crowd!

And this year at Ren Faire, as Boo adopted you again (because you are one of HIS Michaels and he is VERY possessive) and watching you walk along hand in hand with him.

Lager Rhythms sang Fare Thee Well at the Duck, and there you were, a big bear of a man, with tears in your eyes. I love that memory.

:)

We are at some comedy club, and the act on stage does hypnosis. You and I are among the only ones in the audience capable of being hypnotized, so we are dragged up on stage.

We are given instructions that somehow require jostling for position on the stage. I am incapable of jostling Michael out of position, for some reason. I am sent back to my table.

Later, Michael is instructed to go to the bathroom and discover that his penis is missing. He does so. There is a thin cry of woe from the restroom.

The day after Nicole and my wedding. You and your wife are sitting on the couch in my in-law's living room and you are alternating between looking cheerfully wise and laughing openly as you talk to the two of us.

Two... sleeping on the floor of Doc's apartment and constantly shifting my sleeping bag so that I can kick you when you snore.

And meeting up at the Duck for a drink after the infamous blow-up with Lea Salo.

I believe the hypnotist and most of the audience thought so.

Over a year later, while working at Compaq as a contractor, I was spotted in the halls by a co-worker, who recognized me from the comedy club. I denied it ever happened, but that didn't fly.

Heh. Guppy was hypnotized as well.

Who is?

He's the guy that faces the world with a smile, convincing me that most of life is intriguing, and that certainly there is fun to be had just around the corner. There is not a moment I remember that you aren't engaging even when not specifically adding to the conversation.

We've never met in person (that I recall), but I've enjoyed playing in online and email games with you!

Hugging you at the Duck..

Sharing dinner with you and your best beloved at Berryhill's and marvelling at how glowing with happiness you both were.

I remember being very glad you were behind me as the three of us blasted our way through the feast of St. Gennaro (sp?). My very short legs would've left me in the dust otherwise.

The rehersals for that show are what I remember. Your appt. on 11th was probably one of the first times I was in the Heights. Since I bought a home around the corner from it (on Cortlandt), I must've been favorably impressed.

Oh.... I'll go with two from the trip to the NMAI. One is a picture I have of you lying across the laps of three beautiful women. The other was after the museum, on the way back to the metro, seeing you excited that a street vendor had Diet Dr. Pepper. I had not seen anyone act that way over that drink since my husband.

The f'ing turkey feather meeting.

My goal there was to be a big piece of lead, and not let things get out of hand. I was there as an absorber of energy. Becuase I knew it was going to suck to be anyone other than me at that meeting.

Drinking afterwards was good.

I remember you sorta manically beheading your wedding cake.

That was an awesome apartment. 2600 sq feet and 4 stories.
Rent was a mortgage payment, though. Glad we decided to buy a house.

Yes, but it was during a sports event and I was directed to do so.

OTOH, I can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile.

I saw this and my first thought was, "I have to choose one?!?" Because, there are like a billion moments for me to choose amongst. Even when they aren't about happy things, your part in them is happy. So, I stopped to put some thought into what would the pinnacle memory...and then bloody forgot to post at all.

I can't pick a "most this or that" but I can try for one that encapsulates who you are to me. I'm thinking back to the first year we did Ren Faire, during the joy that was rehearsals. I don't remember how I managed it, but something sitting outside my tent got fireants on it and I didn't know when I drug it into the tent. I ended up with many, many miserable ant bites and couldn't sleep that night. You, wonderful soul, stayed up with me all night and kept me sane. You'd worked all week and had to be tired but you willingly gave up sleep to keep me company. As I recall, you also insisted on dragging me out to dinner the next night before letting me fall asleep in the air-conditioned bliss of your apartment.

I still haven't forgiven you, though, for that dinner being at Pancho's. ;-)
