Getting me off to a good start on LJ, [livejournal.com profile] bassfingers interviews me!

1. Do you miss being involved with audio engineering?

I will be doing a remote recording session for The Lager Rhythms a week from Sunday. It's scratch stuff so that they can get reheasal material, but it'll be nice to be behind a board again.

2. List 3 companies/positions that you've applied for and your current hopes towards finding employment with them.

I've got a good lead at MD Anderson Cancer Center. HWRNMNBSOL's boss is looking for a Systems Analyst. I've done the job before without the title, so I think I have some chance. I'll learn alot about Archibus if I get the job...

I've been talking to several CM contracting shops, but they all want me to handle the relocation to Austin or Richmond or some such. We might be willing to go, but the hump of getting there is too high. I think these won't pan out.

I try to do something every day towards getting a job. It's hard work.

3. Which defection/firing from Ceili's Muse do you think had the most impact on the character of the band? Virginia, Mary, Leah, Melanie, Chuck, or Mike?

Virgina

I didn't really ever meet Virginia. I always thought of her as being a relic from before Mary committed to Ceili's Muse. I don't think the band had developed a character to impact. "Ceili's Muse with Virginia" was proto-CM, in a line of descent from "Geese and the Bog".

Mary

After Mary left, the sound changed and started moving towards the Celtic Rock sound and the band started touring.

Leah

Did you ever hear her performance at BlarneyFest soloed? Ow, ow, ow. And she was the cause of the turkeyfeather meeting. No amount of hindsight about her not knowing what she was getting into can make up for the turkeyfeather meeting.

Melanie

A close second. The loss of female vocal harmonies wasn't quite as big as the switch to rock, but I miss it more.

Chuck and Mike

I only saw Mike once or twice, so my take here is all Chuck. I ended up going to Dallas to engineer the first SixMileBridge show after Mike left and they hooked up with Wolf for real. It seemed like the next step on the journey which started with Mary leaving.

4. Why use livejournal when you've got a perfectly viable Movable Type installation?
I wanted better comments and reading privileges on my friend's livejournals

5. If I sent you your Twisted Shakespeare and your Boiled in Lead, would you send me my audio engineering handbook?
yes. I believe the Twisted Shakespeare is either Misty Moye's or Bob Booth's.

Just found this...

I just found your LJ through [livejournal.com profile] immlass's. Interesting question about Ceili's Muse. From an outsider perspective, it seems the two greatest changes were Mary leaving (founding member, and all that) and Anders joining (giving foundation of band that was to come and is now, with him and Maggie together). But, like I said, outsider perspective.

I sure do miss listening to Anders and Chuck break into "Spirit of the Radio" to annoy "the girls".
