mcroftSo, LJ has a poll feature. If I need a web-based to-do list I can make a checkbox style poll and change my answers. The poll can be viewable by all, answerable by me (or all) and the post can be protected to a private friends lists.
This should keep me from having to edit entries to cross off to-do items.

ETA: You can seriously f' up LJ by creating a poll in one post, copying the lj-poll-id# to another, then deleting the first post...
