Charlie Wilson's War

Tom Hanks, as everyone knows, sucks. Here's hoping he doesn't drag down Charlie Wilson's War.. The trailer for the movie about the Lufkin congressman looks quite good, despite both him and Julia Roberts.

"We don't have alcohol in the Presidential residence."
And for the win:
"No."

Does look good.

Saw the preview before "The Golden Age. I was amused.

OTOH...

Tom Hanks, as everyone knows, sucks.

Oh? Tell me more. I don't think I've heard you elaborate this POV before.

I was scarred by his performance in Monsters and Mazes, which came just before he played Hilde in Bosom Buddies.

Fine, but I still love Joe vs the Volcano. You can toss the other Meg Ryan pairings in the trash (Sleepless in Seattle & You've Got Mail) but Joe is wonderful.

It is probably not a good idea to pass final judgement on most actors by the work they do in their 20's. :) I personally think he's grown and mellowed into a pretty good actor, Forrest Gump notwithstanding. But his work in Philadelphia was amazing, I really enjoyed what he did with the acting challenges presented to him in Castaway, and I actually thought he was quite charming in The Terminal.

Some things are unforgivable.

That's true. So I guess I better not ever see that movie. :)

This post fell across the bottom of my screen such that at first I saw only the top half of that image. And with the layout, and the type, for a second or two I thought it was a GURPS sourcebook.

I think it's a million selling idea. "Fight the vicious onslaught of satanic roleplayers in your neighborhoods and cub scout dens! Publish tracts, go to PTA meetings, write letters to the editor! Stop them and their unholy dice, no matter what you have to do!"

I liked him in Bachelor Party.

Being somewhat familiar with the late Congressman's career (thanks mostly to columnists Molly Ivins (peace be upon her) and Donald Morris), I'd love to see this.

It's coming out as a heartwarming Christmas movie. Sorta like Polar Express, but with Stinger Missiles.
