You wear a disguise

This is how it works: Comment on this entry and get a letter.
Write ten words beginning with that letter, including an explanation what the word means to you and why.

Jasmine
One of the few flowers I can identify by scent.

Jacobite
Ye Jacobites by name, lend an ear, lend an ear!

Ye Jacobites by name, lend an ear,

Ye Jacobites by name,

Your fautes I will proclaim,

Your doctrines I maun blame - you shall hear, you shall hear!

Your doctrines I maun blame - you shall hear!

--Rabbie Burns

Justice Society of America
The first comic I followed month-to-month as a child. My father's super-hero team book. Plus, Powergirl!

Juvenile
A descriptor for my sense of humor

Junque
I love wooden ships, especially marginal but successful designs.

Jacksonville
J'ville Texas. Where we spent every Thanksgiving while I was growing up, and I spent a year getting my shite back together in the fall of 1989.

Jones
a soda, a friend, an addiction, a manhunter from mars

Jargon
It's not jargon, it's just how I talk.

Jeffersonian
What can I say? I'm not a federalist.

Jakes
I certainly remember how primative the facilities were at the Texas Rennfest. Not for the faint of heart.

Quibble: "Jones" is just an alias of the Martian Manhunter.

Or, possibly, an anglicized phonetic transcription of his name.

But not him in any strong semiotic sense.

And this relates to what the word Jones means to me how?

You might as well complain that "Justice Society of America" is not, technically, a word.

In any case, and even if you did not mean to play, I assign you the letter Q. You may start with "Quibble".

Quotidian, quoth, quaggoth (and quickling and quipper), quagmire, quixotic, Quetzalcouatl, quondam, quilliant: What they mean to me: Words most people don't know, and I do.

Oops, except I guess that between the war in Iraq and Family Guy, many more folks know "quagmire". Replace it with "Qwik Stop", which was the convenience store where I bought most of my earliest comics.

Also, technically, I made up "quilliant".

Partial to JSA and Powergirl myself.

Was surprised to catch this, because I was just settling down to read Checkmate #1 tonight. Flipped a couple pages and saw that Alan Scott is the new White King and Michael Holt (aka Mr. Terrific) is White King's Bishop.

That much political wrangling will put a spin on the JSA
