It has better head room than my big Saturn sedan. The arch means there's a lot of head room in the middle.

It's a bubble, so it's got great headroom. 38.2 inches (970mm) according to the brochure. It doesn't feel wedged at all and I don't have to lie down to drive.

My 6'5" friend squeezed into every single car at the car show a few years ago, and the only two vehicles he could sit comfortably in were the new Beetle and the Ford F150. Even other trucks couldn't match the headroom of the Beetle.

My partner greatly prefers the headroom in this car. Much better than the Saturn SC2 I used to have.

One word of caution: VW dealer mechanics are generally not trustworthy. Your best friend is now New Beetle.org. It is a fantastic forum/site dedicated to people who love and maintain their own New Beetles. I always go there before I think of going to a mechanic.
